Roxana Kennedy – President
Roxana’s partnership with Project Compassion began in 2007 when she took her first missionary trip to Uganda. She was inspired and motivated to help those in need throughout the world. Since that life-altering mission, Roxana continued her call to service in Uganda, Mozambique, Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, Ecuador and Mexico. Roxana believes we share the responsibility to help those who cannot help themselves. Traveling to a third world country is difficult and challenging, but the reward of making a lasting footprint toward the betterment of a civilization is immeasurable. The people in these impoverished areas throughout the globe are not only in need of physical care, but more importantly spiritual care. Project Compassion’s goal is to provide these citizens of the world with both.
Roxana’s passion for helping others is evident in her profession. She is a law enforcement commander with over 24 years of service in San Diego County. In addition to her call to service with Project Compassion, Roxana is an advocate for the locally indigent. She works with San Diego homeless coalitions to provide resources and meals for families throughout the year.
Roxana serves on the board of directors with PC and as a team leader on the medical mission trips overseas. She encourages potential volunteers to serve with Project Compassion and make their contribution to a world in need. Roxana states, “Working with Project Compassion has enriched my life spiritually and emotionally”
Pastor Bob Maddux – Vice President
Project Compassion co-founder has been in full time ministry since 1968. He is the founding pastor of Trinity Church San Diego, located in Poway, California a suburb of San Diego, where he served as senior pastor from 1988 to 2015. He continues to serve as part of the church pastoral staff. Under his leadership the church has had an international impact through its various outreaches. Besides his Pastoral work he has ministered on five continents training national pastors and doing evangelistic outreaches. In 1976 he founded Capital Bible College and served as its president for nine years. In 1979 he founded and directed Jesus West Coast, a large annual missions festival attended yearly by thousands and credited with recruiting’ many into missions. He’s the author of 5 books (novels and non-fiction) and has produced various documentary films. Besides his pastoral duties, he is writing, producing and developing film and tv projects as well as working on another novel. He and his wife, Claudia, have been married since 1969. They have 3 grown children and 7 grandchildren.
Albert “Al” Martinez MD – Secretary
Albert “Al” Martinez MD took his first mission trip with Project Compassion in 2000 and joined the Board of Directors of PC in 2001. He enjoys his involvement with the administrative end of PC as well as continuing to go on mission trips. He earned his Medical Degree in 1982 and completed his residency in Pediatrics in 1985. He has been in private pediatric practice since 1985 in Escondido and Poway, CA. Al enjoys the field of Pediatrics and the challenges of international medical missions, especially in having to care for all ages of patients, from infancy to the elderly. “I found my first trip with PC to be a life changing experience and I love every trip I take. I feel that the care I can give to the people on these trips is my way of thanking the Lord for all that he gives to me. Working with Project Compassion has been very rewarding in many ways. I encourage others, both medical professionals and lay persons, to take the first step into medical mission work and I know they will come back a different person.”

Natalie Martinez – Director of Education
Natalie is a Registered Nurse and a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who has been involved with Project Compassion since 2000. She received her Master’s of Science in Nursing in 1987 and is board certified in both Pediatrics and Family Health. She has been employed for the past 20 years with Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group in San Diego and previously worked at Children’s Hospital San Diego for 10 years. “After my first trip to Mexico in 2000 with Project Compassion, my heart was on fire for missions and I’ve wanted to return with this group as much as I could. Traveling with Project Compassion is a wonderful way to serve the poor, experience the work of the Holy Spirit and bring the hope of Jesus Christ.
Claudia Maddux – Director of Mission Outreach
Claudia has been on staff at Trinity Church since 1988 when it was called Christian Life Assembly and later The Connection. She directed the Worship Dept and was the main Worship leader for 27 years, as well as the Missions Director. She is one of the pastors, & is now back on the worship team as a singer/keyboard player. She has administrated various areas in the church through the years, such as Women’s Ministries; home groups; children’s ministries; greeters, etc. She is also an award-winning photographer
with a website showing her best travel photos as she has been to 151 countries as of 2025. Her husband, Pastor Bob and she have been married since 1969 and have 3 married children; and 8 grandkids. She has been involved with Project Compassion since the beginning, and taken many trips as a helping hand.
