Upcoming Trips
YUCATAN 2010
Project Compassion has such a special relationship with Dr. Alberto Zamacona that Project Compassion Oaxaca was created. This year will be the tenth anniversary of this partnership. The team fills up fast as there are many people who return each year to work with Dr. Al. This year we will be making our home base at a beautiful hotel in Playa de Carmen and travel each day to different villages. We will be working with a local church there to help spread the love of God.
Even though the Yucatan is known to us as the Mayan Riviera, the people of this area are very poor. Many homes do not have running water or access to electricity.
MALAWI 2010
Project Compassion will be working with the African Bible College, located just outside the city of Lilongwe. In 1991 African Bible College opened its second college in the Central African country of Malawi. They also have a college in Liberia & Uganda. The chief aim of African Bible Colleges, Inc. (ABC) is to train Christians in Africa for pastoral ministry, community service and provide them with leadership skills relevant to the continent. ABC is committed to proclaiming salvation through Christ, and spreading the good news of the Word of God. ABC also operates a low cost public clinic. Many of ABC students go into full-time Christian work ministering to the people of Malawi. PC's clinic will be used as an evangelistic outreach to the village where ABC has ongoing work around Lilongwe. Two of the clinic days will be near beautiful Lake Malawi. The other two days will be in villages outside Lilongwe. All services are open to everyone without prejudice, and everything including the pharmaceuticals are provided at no charge.Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world. The people’s healthy life expectancy is only 35 years old. There are only 266 physicians for 13 million people. The majority of people make less then $2.00 a day.
If you are looking to work in Malawi full-time, ABC’s clinic is in desperate need of doctors of any kind. They have a variety of jobs that need to be filled.
FIJI 2010
The Gounder's are from Fiji. They are fourth-generation migrants from India, brought to Fiji by the British to work the sugar industry as indentured laborers. They speak the Hindi language, ministering to both the Hindi and English speaking Indians. The Gounders have started four churches in their thirteen years of ministry in Fiji and are well know and greatly respected within both the church and the community.
Although Fiji is thought of as an ideal vacation destination, outside the tourist spots many people live in poverty. There is a great need for clean water on the islands, especially in the remote areas. Unsanitary water brings a wide variety of health problems. Project Compassion will provide a fully functioning clinic on Monday - Thursday, all services are open to everyone without prejudice and everything including the pharmaceuticals will be provided at no charge.
NEPAL 2010
Project Compassion is excited to work again with Sundar & Sareeta Thapa in Pokhara Nepal. Sundar heads Evangelical Fellowship of Nepal, and he and his wife, Sareeta, operate a Bible school to train future Christian leaders. Nepal is a country of amazing extremes. There are the world’s highest mountains towering above populated valleys and forested plains in which tigers and rhinoceros live. It has a population of more that 27 million, made of different races and tribes, living in different regions wearing different costumes and speaking different languages and dialects. Hinduism and Buddhism constitute the two major religions of Nepal. Muslims form the third largest religions group. Christians only count for less than 2% of the populations. Nepal is one of the world’s poorest nations, with 42% of the population living below the poverty line, the average person people makes about $3.00 per day. They only have 2 hospital beds for every 10,000 people. Their healthy life expectancey is only 51 years old. Only 19% of the women have skilled health personnel delivering their babies. PC will be setting up clinics four days in villages around Pokhara to show the love and compassion of God to the Nepalis people.
Check out the beautiful pictures from PC’s trip in 1999 under the past trip section.
